The Catcher in the Rye - J.D SALINGER - Used Books

So, while we're up to dreaming of coach purses and expensive shoes...here's a dream! The Catcher in the Rye - J.D SALINGER - Used Books: "The Catcher in the Rye by SALINGER, J.D

[Boston]: [Little Brown]. [1951]. The Book of the Month club edition of his classic first book. Signed by the author. Salinger's reclusiveness is legendary, and any signed copy of Catcher in the Rye is one of the most elusive of all 20th century books. Some handling apparent on black boards; near fine in a near fine dust jacket with two short edge tears and a small nick to the spine. The jacket has Salinger's photo on the rear panel; it was removed from later jackets at the author's request. .

Figgy Pudding Update

Yes, the votes are in...Among the 17 preschool/kindergarten children at Montessori that tried figgy pudding....12 of them liked it. The other 5 did taste it, but really didn't think they would like more than one bite, thank you very much.
On the home front we all liked figgy pudding...with whipped cream of course.

I knew everyone was waiting for the results of the figgy pudding poll. Happy to share this update with you!

Oh Bring us a Figgy Pudding...

Yes, after all these years of singing, "Oh, Bring us a Figgy Pudding", I've finally decided to make a figgy pudding. It took a little looking to find figs (Akins!) and I didn't soak them in brandy (cause I'm making it for kids), but it is in the oven. I'll let you know tomorrow how it turns out and if any of my Montessori kids will taste it! The batter was yummy. Guess I could make a brandy glaze for the left overs.....

Christmas Dance 2006

Yes, it is that time of year again! Patterson in a tux...kind of frightening, but doesn't he look handsome?!! Here are the before pics: Patterson and Curtis getting ready to pick up the girls
Patterson and Sarah after she tumbled off her 3 inch heels right down the staircase at her house. She wasn't hurt, thank goodness, but we recommended that Patterson keep a tight hand on her in the ice and snow.

This is how babysitting should be!

Theo came to play, but first he and Daniel had a l-o-n-g nap..This got them charged up for the wild rumpus to follow!!

Theo came to play!!!

Theo loves a drumstick, especially when used as a walking stick! Tator tots belong on top of bongo drums; no question about that. We think he might also be a concert pianist--just because playing is so much fun!! We hope he will come to our house again soon for more grand adventures!!

The art emerges!

Here are the pics of the Yard Art after artifying. The ladies and I had a blast yesterday bending wire, attaching fun discs that say things like "dream, bliss, faith, true love, cherish" (You get the picture), making tall "spoinky" things that wave in the wind, and just doing what girlfriends do best...chatting! Then Elizabeth joined us for a nice lunch. It was one wonderful day (hear me singing?) The pictures don't really do it justice; you just need to come see for yourself!

The Adventure Begins...

This beautiful piece of VERY HEAVY cast iron used to be the soundboard of an upright piano...but now, Yard Art!! It isn't finished, oh no, only barely begun (although you wouldn't know it from all the work it took just to get it standing up in the garden!) In a few weeks it will be transformed, decorated and artified....Stay tuned! Posted by Picasa

What the heck???

Yesterday it was 85 and sunny...short sleeves, iced tea and air conditioning. Today, however, it is 50's with a 40 mph wind and spitting something cold and wet. No fair. It is fall break, let's have FALL not winter!
So, in celebration of this glorious weather I've laundryed, vacuumed and recaulked my bathtub all while wearing a turquoise furry hat and halloween socks. No, I'm not crazy (well maybe)just trying to make up for the dreariness...Besides, the mailman needed something to laugh about since he is stuck outside in the bluster!! Hugs to all. Laugh, do something silly, remember that today is a gift!! love you.

Race for the Cure

Elizabeth, Grannie and Betsy joined me for the Race (walk) for the Cure this Saturday morning. It was a gorgeous day, not too cold, sunny. A perfect October sky! We did the walk, ate a bagel, talked to some interesting women and got free goodies. After the race I joined the other survivors on the ball field for closing ceremonies. It was a moving, awesome experience. I am so lucky to have supportive people around to do these things with me!! Next year we want to have enough for a team (10 people) so be thinking about that! Love you all.

A little piece of art

I made this little Mary Shrine last night in art class. Yes, it is in a sardine can...no I did not eat the sardines. If you have any sardine cans hanging around your house I would love to have them...please eat the sardines first (or feed them to your cat, or whatever!) Thanks!

I've been playing today!

Today I ran away to the zoo...alone...with no children. I saw about a dozen different kinds of butterflys, had lunch with the Bison and had a conversation with a Wild Ass (which was not human, by the way). He didn't have much to say other than HEE HAW which actually was kind of what I was thinking as I wandered the zoo at my own pace, looked at only what I cared to see and didn't have to play on the jungle gym. I did, however, treat myself to an ICEE drink (white cherry, yum). It was very quiet there this morning. I highly recommend it.

Ok, so I just resisted a donut.

You Are a Boston Creme Donut

You have a tough exterior. No one wants to mess with you.
But on the inside, you're a total pushover and completely soft.
You're a traditionalist, and you don't change easily.
You're likely to eat the same doughnut every morning, and pout if it's sold out.

CELEBRATION!!

Today was my last treatment!! When I was done the radiation techs started applauding and cheering! Very funny (it is a very quiet place at 7:00 am!) I took "the kids" a big basket of breakfast stuff which they immediately dug into (they are kids afterall!) I must say that even though radiation itself isn't so much fun, I got to know some great people on my radiation team. They were always smiling and always had something encouraging to say. This is alot from 20 somethings that arrive before 6:00 am to be ready for me at 7:00! A grand experience to add to my collection. But I'm through...yes, the happy dance is happening! Keep well, I love you all!

So, for some unknown reason the blogspot decided not to publish these where they belonged. This was the last day of Patterson's trip...maybe the site is afraid of alligators??
